Yes he did have the advantage of finding himself at a highly productive point in the space-time continuum. Doesn't make him any worse. If we set aside literary value, I admire beats as the hypersensitive cutting edge of a generation.

The place wouldn't have been the right place without him, his friends wouldn't have been the right ones without him. Pretty much nothing good from the latter half of the twentieth century to this day in the Western world would have happened without him, be it literature, music, film, behaviour, politics, culture in general.

He had the right friends and was in the right place at the right time, nothing more

I said I think that it's good, and that I respect anyone's opinion that it's bad. I said that you can't really say it doesn't have a point. So your response about the holocaust is in accordance with my statement. The holocaust had a point, and it was terrible. Ginsberg's poetry has a point, and anyone who wants to can say it sucks.

I cannot fathom how anyone could think his writing was boring or pointless. Have you actually read any of it? I have to respect your opinion that you think his writing is boring, but pointless? No writing is pointless. Ever. Writing is first and foremost a form of expression, whether it accomplishes nothing more than evoking emotions in the writer, it is purposeful.

Allen, in the name of Chaplin and America and Carlo and Marx, jazz or sex or soup, bless you. Yumyum.

I could post something about how boring and pointless his writing is, but everybody already knows that.

Just discovered this guy. Reminds me of Captain Beefheart's spoken word songs. Pretty much awesome.

Buisness men are serious. Movie producers are serious. Everybody is serious but me!
