Biography

A good dose of rock’n’roll infused with airy guitar riffs, haunting melodies and lyrics that are sure to get you thinking, “this is ARKAYAN. “

Since the Perth rockers formed acoustically as a side project in 2008, Arkayan have grown rapidly into the five-piece ensemble that you see today.

Arkayan supported Aussie power house band ‘Full Scale Revolution’ earlier this year and have since been spending many a-sweltering hot day in the studio, laying down the final touches and planning the release of their debut album “Away from the World”

“Away from the World” tells many a story of relationships, broken hearts and all the fun and dramas that accompany life. Arkayan compare the sound of their album to “the recording of the rowdy interactions of Porcupine Tree, Incubus, Thrice, The Cooper Temple and a Shetland Pony on a tour bus”.

See Arkayan live and you’re in for a high energy, rock-fuelled show accompanied by heartfelt songs delivered with passion and sincerity. If you’re lucky you may even experience their famous “Law and Order” cover, which has proved to be a crowd favourite at their live performances in Perth, possibly cos’ it’s hard to resist a band with this much to say about Hollywood hardman, Chuck Norris.

Arkayan consists of Jon Mazzardis (vocals/guitar), Niall Ridgeway (guitar), Djan Irianto (drums), Raq Santella (harmonies) and the newest addition to the group, Justin Martin (bass), brother to the Fractious guitarist, who couldn’t resist trying his hand after hearing many a jam in the family garage. In a past life, these experienced musicians have supported acts such as ‘Dead Letter Circus’ and ‘Sydonia’ to name a few. Now they’ve come together as Arkayan and are ready to take their rockin’ rants around the country.

Songwriter Jon Mazzardis’s down time during night shifts at a local Perth hospital are where the original Arkayan songs come to life. Guitarist Niall Ridgeway’s new, raw material completes Arkayan’s sound.
