Biography

Obstacles stand in her way; She knocks them down.
Ashley Breathe’s unique mix of sleaze-pop and electro fuses club ready floor fillers with catchy electro-pop hits. Born October 3, 1987, in Staten Island, NY, Ashley grew up as an only child with big dreams… of being a international pop star… Ashley Found herself captivated by The Spice Girls in the mid-90’s and later that decade fell for Britney’s catchy timeless pop anthem ‘Baby One More Time’, it was love at first listen. Ashley purchased wigs similar to Britney’s hairstyle and posted fun videos on YouTube lip-syncing to all her favorite pop songs She gained a strong fan-base through YouTube and pop music forums and age 17 Ashley began recording demos and proceeded to post her music on her myspace. To a very warm welcome.
Her songs are mainstream pop through harder electro-R&B; she is a chameleon who can write in any style. Ashley writes songs about her life, lack of love life and her burgeoning sex life. The blossoming songwriter began working in 2006 with producer Glenn Howard who worked with Ashley to create ‘Love’s Over’ the slick hip electro track about Ashley playing the cards before the players; reminding men that the women are queen, they are pawn. ‘Love’s Over’ really took flight and notched up hundreds-of-thousands of plays, just as another track “Body & Soul” took flight for all the wrong reasons. The Ashley Breathe original, which had been mischievously re-named as a Britney Spears comeback track by people online had been posted in videos throughout YouTube under its new false alias. ‘Body & Soul’ was therefore believed by thousands to be a Britney Spears track.
Ashley, while flattered and honoured that people thought she was her idol, couldn’t help but be upset at the lack of recognition she recieved for writing the song. Though people have blind-bashed her for being transgendered, she remains a strong role model, with yet more obstacles in her way and many boundaries still to blur; she will not stop- She will fight. In this day and age it’s hard for any talented artist to be signed and heard, for a trans-woman it is harder still, but Ashley will not give up- she walks hand in hand with pop, and will not stop doing what she loves, no matter what the haters say. She is someone to look out for in the future.
