Despite owning this album, for some reason I hadn't listened to it in long enough that I didn't have any scrobbles of it in my profile until just recently. That was a clear mistake. The drumming on this is particularly superb. Also, the production is fine. You can hear every instrument clearly and it's not ruined with garbage loudness war stunts like nearly every modern record, including all of ATDI's later full-lengths. I'm not sure if this will become my favourite of their releases, but I don't know why I'd overlooked it for so long. Their earlier EPs are excellent as well.

My favorite full length from ATDI. Their others are good as well, but this one is overflowing with passion and energy. The production values are garbage, but the songwriting is top notch and the enthusiasm with which they're playing makes it a real winner.

Sometimes the feeling of a teenage garbage demo can strike more of a chord with you than a polished high budget album. This is easily my favorite ATDI album. [2]

preach on NOHOPE...mikeinbed if you're getting caught up with the sound quality you're missing the best part of the album, the music. Initiation still gives me chills.

Why does this album have so many plays? It is nothing compared to In/Casio/Out and Relationship of Command... It just sounds like a bunch of teenager garage demos where they are still learning their instruments... How people can say this is their best is beyond me... hipsters, surely.

This is a classic, legendary album. I don't care how unpolished it is; one must appreciate the rawness of it. If you don't appreciate this album, then you don't appreciate the epic-ness that was ATD-I, in my opinion. Also, no, this album is 10x better than In/Casino/Out (IMO), although every album that this band ever released es exquisito (fact).

Starslight is not just the best song on this record, but it's one of the best songs from ATDI. Period.
