Biography
Backslashes and Bad Ideas is not just another generic pop punk outfit. We are neither polished nor typical. And we proudly separate ourselves from the constant cookie-cutter standard. Our circuit began with just four friends humbly making music. We wrote together inspired by a range of artists, from scene veterans such as Taking Back Sunday and Brand New, to rising talent like The Dangerous Summer and The Wonder Years. Over two years in the making, we have grown together not only in number, but in sound and purpose. We strive to wrought passionate, driving, and heartfelt music that can transcend all listeners.
In June 2012 we began recording our debut EP 'Nothing Left To Give' with producer Joe Della'quila (Anthony Green, Good Old War) at Exeter Studios in NJ. After a successful digital release on August 4th, 2012, we received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and support. As well as favorable reviews from a variety of outlets. Justin Sarachik (Broken Records Magazine) called the EP "emotionally driven, distinct and clearly determined". While Festivalblog reviewed the record as "an infectious release".
Over this past year alone we've traversed the east coast, playing shows near and far. We have shared the stage with national touring bands such as Major League, With The Punches, Half Hearted Hero, and Young Statues. We thrive to deliver a electric, intimate, and tightly crafted performance no matter what the bill, venue, or crowd. We look forward to another exciting year of traveling, performing, growing, and sharing our own brand of passionate, honest, and heartfelt pop punk. We are Backslashes and Bad Ideas.
