Biography

The Backyard Superheroes are a New Jersey ska-punk band that started in early 2012. They have been compared to Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, and other popular bands in the genre. They are seven dudes, featuring two guitars, a bass, a drummer, and a horn section including a trumpet, a tenor saxophone (occasionally playing alto) and a trombone. Vocals can be heard from the lead guitarist, trumpet player, and the drummer, as well as full-band shouts and some guest artists. With various musical backgrounds, and several side-projects, the members are all committed to musicianship, to varying degrees.

With 3 recordings currently out, listeners can sense the maturation of the band's musicianship as they first start out (Falling With Style, 2012), move into a more serious tone (Self-titled, 2014), and their latest EP (Let's Get Dangerous, 2015), developing some flow and serious identity solidification.

The Backyard Superheroes can be seen quite frequently in the NJ and PA areas, particularly in the shore towns and several college scenes through out the states, though they've completed two national tours; the first down to Orlando, with stops along the eastern seaboard, and the second stretching into the northern Midwestern U.S., highlights including Chicago, Detroit, and Cleveland.

Notable performances: Skate and Surf Festival (2013-2015), Skanksgiving (2013, 2014), Atlantic City Music and Beer Festival (2014), Jersey Shore Festival (2015).

Influences: Rancid, Less Than Jake, Mad Caddies, Operation Ivy, Reel Big Fish, The Specials, Suicide Machines, Mustard Plug, and others.
