Biography

There are several artists named ‘Bananafish’:

1) Bananafish is a dream-pop band from St. Petersburg, Russia formed by Maxim Kuzntetsov and Dasha Grinevich in February of 2015.

2) Japanese alternative rock band from BANANAFISH RECORDS label. Consists of Dai Nakanishide / 中西出 大 (Bass), Akashiba Eisuke / 赤芝 栄亮 (Vocals&Guitar), Otou Hirofumi / 尾頭 裕文 (Drums), Kakugawa Akira / 角川 明 (Guitar).

3) Bananafish of Montreal. Fusing elements of funk, jazz, progressive rock, and straight up rock ‘n’ roll, the band brings all of these components together into a live performance. Without a singer to steal the show, each member phases in and out between rhythm and lead, taking charge from time to time but never taking a backseat. It is this sense of equality that brought these six together in the first place – and it continues to push them to new and often unexpected frontiers.

4) Bananafish is Nashville based musician Marc Chirico, who is currently studying Audio Engineering Technology and Music Business at Belmont University. Born in 1989 to Valerie and Mark Chirico, he showed interest in music from a very early age and was encouraged to learn an instrument. Beginning at the age of seven, Marc picked up the guitar to learn songs by Bob Dylan and Aerosmith from his father. Before moving to Nashville for college, he joined different bands and consistently performed live in Gainesville, FL. Through the course of a decade, he played instruments ranging from guitar to bass and drums. Bananafish ranges in stylistic influences, but stays true to the roots of the electric guitar while experimenting with ambient assaults and electronic rhythms and melodies.

Marc also writes a column on live concert reviews in Nashville for Music City Interactive, a collective blog focusing on the Recording Industry, Technology, and Music. He also is an assistant engineer at Historic RCA Studio B and Robert E. Mulloy Studios, where he records and produces his own music as well as other acts.
