Bassisters Orchestra is a brainchild of Wojtek Mazolewski, a nu-jazz collective founded in 1997.

Their first record, a 2001 self-titled album, is the result of an all-night recording session held in Gdańsk Musical Academy studio. Two years later Mazolewski invited five other artists (Bunio, Mikołaj Trzaska, Macio Moretti, Fisz and Emade) for a joint performance during Gdańsk Jazz Nights. The recording of the gig was published by Asfalt Records in 2004 under the title "Live at Wrzeszcz".

2006 saw the release of "Numer Jeden", Bassisters Orchestra's second full-length. The album features many guest appearances by such artists as Ścianka's founder Maciej Cieślak, Tomasz Duda, or Sao Paulo Underground's Mauricio Takara and Rob Mazurek.
