Bear Cat have been working hard at being the best panda-pop band in the universe. At the moment this is pretty easy because they are the only panda pop band in the universe. But pretty soon there will be literally millions of them. At which point Bear Cat will throw a curve ball and start playing panda metal. Or sing about other things.
In September they released Xiong Mao - literally 'Bear Cat' in Chinese (see what they did there). It is their finest album to date. It is their first album to date. It is the best panda pop album ever released anywhere ever and features the smash #421 hit RED PANDA BLUES, the child-like singalong B/W HAIR and the pandagate protest song NEW ZEALAND ADOPT THIS PANDA.
Bear Cat consists of Jocee Tuck and Chopper Dan plus wonderful friends. They cite their favourite influences as the Ramones and the Ronettes. They have opened for amazing artists like Andrew Bird, Matt and Kim and Half-handed Cloud. In 2008 Bear Cat were on Real Groove's Awesome Feeling compilation and made it to the top five final of the nationwide MTV Kickstart band competition.

Chopper Dan has a time traveling watch, and has been to the European Renaissance and Cretaceous periods among many others. Because of such time traveling, Chopper Dan has shaped modern culture as we know it, without knowing it. It has been speculated that Chopper Dan modeled as 'David' for Michelangelo and that he helped Europe two-step its way out of the Middle Ages.
Further speculation suggests that Chopper Dan was trying to get an apple out of a tree in the late 17th century, when he dropped the apple and it fell on a long haired fellow, thus resulting in Newtonian physics.
