Better Looking People With Superior Ideas are an electronic rock duo from Los Angeles.

Local Music Nation said the band’s music made them feel like they were “in the middle of watching some obscure art house film about a human falling in love with a robot.” Multi-instrumentalists Craig Vermeyen and Nick Norton began making music together in the prog-punk band Honest Iago in college. As that band’s members moved from city to city to city to city after graduating, Nick and Craig both ended up in LA at the same time. In the summer of 2010 they found themselves at a crossroads of sorts. They had both recently finished school. They were both starting new jobs and experiencing tumultuous times in their love lives. And Nick had just picked up an organ that made a weird sound when you put your head near it.

They figured all of this could only mean one thing: that it was a good time to start a new project. So they moved in together, wrote a bunch of songs, named their band after a misremembered LCD Soundsystem lyric, and hired Nick’s friend Nick Tipp (The Decemberists, Passion Pit, HEALTH) to produce their first EP. Carl Saff (Dinosaur Jr., RVIVR) mastered it in Chicago.

The original intention had been to write a bunch of simple, accessible pop songs. Most of their friends said they wouldn’t be able to pull it off, and most of their friends were right. They did, however, manage to write a genre-bending mishmash of a debut EP in the process. It came out on January 1, 2013. They've been playing shows and writing music (like the new single Where The Lights Meet, also produced by Tipp) since then. Stay tuned.
