On “Don't Hurt Yourself”, Beyoncé speaks on husband JAY-Z’s long rumored cheating, expressing her anger towards him. It is arguably the peak point of Beyoncé’s anger regarding relationship infidelity on the song’s parent album, Lemonade (2016).
The song references Dr. Dre’s famous “Cause when you diss Dre, you diss yourself” line from “Fuck Wit Dre Day (And Everybody's Celebratin')”; she concludes the track ominously with the line
“This is your final warning: you know I give you life, if you try this shit again…you gon’ lose your wife.”
“Don't Hurt Yourself” charted at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, following the release of her sixth album ‘Lemonade’.
