"NILE” serves as the tenth track on Beyoncé’s specially curated The Lion King soundtrack. The project dropped on July 19, 2019, along with the film’s worldwide theatrical release.
This is the second collaboration between Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar. The two previously worked on April 2016’s “FREEDOM,” from Beyoncé’s award-winning album Lemonade. They also performed the song at the 2016 BET Awards.
During Beyoncé’s ABC special, “The Making of the Gift”, she described the song as trying to capture a moment of a dream-like state, almost like the moment when someone’s life flashes before their death. She also detailed that Kendrick Lamar sent the track to her for the album.
