Björk and Rosalía have joined forces to release the powerful new single 'Oral'. Produced by the artists alongside Sega Bodega, the song marks the first collaboration between the two singers.
The aim is to shed light on the alarming cruelty and serious environmental and ecological consequences of open-sea salmon farming in Björk's home country of Iceland.
"Oral" dates back two decades – first written by Björk between 1997's Homogenic and 2001's Vespertine, the track was lost in her archives after feeling it wasn't the right choice for an album. Björk rediscovered the song after being reminded of her name during a tour of Australia in March 2023, the same month a report was released on the devastating impact of poorly regulated Norwegian-owned commercial salmon farming operations on Iceland's native ecosystems.
After resonating deeply with the cause, and as a passionate activist and protester for much of her life, Björk recruited Rosalía to help bring the song to life and, in turn, raise awareness of the issue.

“Oral” remonta a duas décadas – escrita pela primeira vez por Björk entre Homogenic de 1997 e Vespertine de 2001, a faixa foi perdida em seus arquivos depois de sentir que não era a escolha certa para um álbum. Björk redescobriu a música depois de ser lembrada de seu nome durante uma turnê pela Austrália em março de 2023, mesmo mês em que foi divulgado um relatório sobre o impacto devastador das operações comerciais de criação de salmão de propriedade norueguesa, mal regulamentadas, nos ecossistemas nativos da Islândia.
Depois de ressoar profundamente com a causa, e como uma ativista e manifestante apaixonada durante grande parte de sua vida, Björk recrutou Rosalía para ajudar a dar vida à música e, por sua vez, aumentar a conscientização sobre o assunto.
