Quickly grown to become one of my favourite albums of all time. Wish I'd got into Dylan earlier but there's a time for everything

I already loved this album, but when I went through a difficult breakup, it affects me differently. (I had it on repeat as well when my father almost died because of COVID).

I think we can all agree this is the best Dylan album, or at least the most emotionally devastating one

I really love how this album is clearly influenced by Dylan's personal life, but when asked about it, he always denies it. It's like - we know, Bob. But he doesn't care. I honestly love that.

This can very well be the best break-up album ever made. Fun fact: my wife got her name after Dylan's ex-wife.

I think I agree with MisterJunior on this one. What sets all three of those albums apart from other Dylan albums are how out of place they seem in the contemporary musical landscape of the time. The honesty and emotion really comes out on this one, and while Planet Waves was a great album, this was the album that really announced that Dylan was back. I own all of Dylan's studio albums, and, chronologically speaking, this would be the last time a Dylan record would really smack me in the face, so to speak, with its pure emotion and honesty until "Infidels" in '83, though "Desire", "Street Legal" and "Shot of Love" definitely had their moments, but they were not as cohesive as those other two aforementioned albums.

Blood on the Tracks was actually the second album by Dylan that I bought ^^ Idiot Wind, Tangled Up in Blue, Simple Twist of Fate & You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go are some really good songs, I can agree that it has some weeker songs, maybe thats why I doesn't listen straight thru it that often.. Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts is quit underrated in my opinion.

ok, yeah this probably isn't the single best album ever, but it's still a top ten favorite for me

actually the only song I dislike is meet me in the morning, lily rosemary and the jack of hearts is very good but doesn't really fit the theme of the album, but then when you see her say hello comes in like a punch to the gut.

This one is in my top 3 Dylan albums along with John Wesley Harding and Love and Theft. There's a simplicity and honesty to these lyrics that to me is far more expressive than and all-around superior to the dense wordplay of the the '63-'66 stuff. He's also tightened things up and the record sounds the most professional of anything he'd done to this point, with a well rehearsed and extremely professional sounding band, crystal clear production that lets you hear every note (and perhaps more importantly for this particular album every word) and one of the most passionate performances of his career. "Lily..." is a bit of a clunker, more due to its overstaying its welcome by about 6 minutes than anything, but I don't mind it too much; I'd certainly rather listen to something kind of cheesy than something endlessly off-putting like "Ballad of a Thin Man." A good 5 or 6 of these songs are among the absolute best of his entire career. This is a truly great album.

I’ve come to really really like Lily Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. It’s a nice little respite from the albums emotional darkness right before it plunges you right back into the depths with the devastating “If You See Her Say Hello”

I think this is the most deeply emotional and honest album I've ever heard. It is devastating in its brilliance. [7]

Devastating masterpiece. Only Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts ruins the mood even though it's a great song. Maybe it's there so you could take some rest from weeping.
