Bokani Dyer is a pianist and composer from Cape Town, South Africa. He has a strong musical heritage - his father is well-respected musician Steve Dyer. Bokani has been awarded the prestigious 2011 Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Jazz and holds a Bachelor of Music (Hons) from the University of Cape town. His albums include "Mirrors" and "Emancipate the Story", both of which are available on Dyertribe.
Frequent collaborators include Marcus Wyatt (trumpet), Buddy Wells (saxophone), Kesivan Naidoo (drums), Jimmy Dludlu (guitar), Melanie Scholtz (vocals) and Shane Cooper (bass), amongst others.
Some of the artists that have influenced Dyer are Bheki Mseleku, Moses Molelekwa, Andile Yenana, Winston "Mankunku" Ngozi, Robert Glasper, Herbie Hancock and Bobo Stenson.
