Boncana Maïga is a flutist, vocalist, arranger and producer born in Mali. In 1968 he co-founded in Cuba the musical group Las Maravillas de Mali, translated as The Wonders of Mali. He returns to Mali, but in 1972 he decides to go into exile in the Ivory Coast. It is in Abidjan that he spent a large part of his career. He was successively professor of music at the National Institute of Arts and deputy director of the Conservatory of Côte d'Ivoire.
