Boncana Maïga is a flutist, vocalist, arranger and producer born in Mali.
In 1968 he co-founded in Cuba the musical group Las Maravillas de Mali, translated as The Wonders of Mali.
He returns to Mali, but in 1972 he decides to go into exile in the Ivory Coast. It is in Abidjan that he spent a large part of his career. He was successively professor of music at the National Institute of Arts and deputy director of the Conservatory of Côte d'Ivoire. He formed and directed for 14 years the orchestra of Radio Télévision Ivoirienne (RTI).
He is one of the initiators of the Africando Project in 1990.
He returned to Mali in 2005 and founded Maestro-Sound Mali, an audiovisual and record production company.
