This single was released during the span in which Brent Faiyaz was having his Fuck The World, It’s Wasteland tour. The track touches on topics that are seen in Wasteland such as toxic relationships and the inability to escape them.

For Faiyaz, it’s not the notion of leaving the relationship that is the issue. Instead it is the temporary benefits such as sexual pleasure and the person always being open to Brent’s coming and going in their lives. It sustains the temporary excitement of their relationship. This person is able to manipulate Brent by redirecting his focus which causes the entire focus to lie solely on them.

WY@ stands for “Where you at” which is a phrase used in the song to indicate how Brent has found himself in a position where he is unable to go back to his lover. Him constantly going back to her when it benefitted him resulted in her finding a way to reject his advances through ghosting and detaching from his life
