Radian Things Music
Brian Irving is the music alias of songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and drum programmer Brian Brater. Brian Irving’s debut album, “Radiant Things”, exudes lush conscious neo-psychedelic healing music power awash with heavy guitar and synth processing and dubbed out drum programming. Brian’s songwriting communicate tales of awareness, love, compassion, death, and rebirth. The message is hardcore spiritual: ‘Love and Compassion’, ‘Eyes Wide’, and ‘Superhuman’ are self-proclamations of our collective enlightened state. We are all truly “Superhuman”. We are not doomed. The album’s production is dark, atmospheric and edgy and heavily influenced by John Lennon, David Bowie and Pink Floyd’s songwriting.
Brian, a lifetime New Yorker, has practiced and studied music since the 7th grade. Since then he’s formerly studied jazz and pop music composition and practiced bass, guitar and piano. Hip -hop producers DJ Premier, Pete Rock, DJ Shadow, and The Neptunes equally influence him. As freshmen at Brown University Brian along with old friend Jarret Myer managed and produced live music for local rappers and producers. A few years later they founded and built the legendary hip hop label Rawkus Records, where they signed Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Black Star, Pharaohe Monch, Company Flow, Big L, and Reflection Eternal and promoted and marketed Eminem and Common. Brian also helped develop the careers of mega-producer Dr. Luke and Frank Ocean collaborator Om’mas Keith. Today, Brian is co-founder of UPROXX.COM, an entertainment lifestyle new media company and YouTube studio BigFra.me, home to cutting edge videographers.
Brian cites Jack White’s Third Man, James Murphy’s DFA, and the entire Glassnote, Sub Pop, Merge, Modular Records rosters as recent influences and inspirations for reemerging in the music industry. The “Eyes Wide” video, produced by Los Angeles art and design collective Something In The Universe is inspired by the psychedelic energy of Captain Murphy and Tampa Impala videos as well as the imagery and style of assume vivid astro focus and London’s 14 Hour Technicolor Dream.
