It wasn't until sometime in late 2015 that I first heard Brown Bird. I couldn't tell you what song it was, but I remember hearing something from Tautology in a Spotify folk playlist. I hit the 'view album' button, and listened to the album a couple times in the next few days. Since then, Brown Bird has become one of my most played artists of the last 5 years. Their sound changes a bit over time, but I love it all. Sometimes when I'm reading & I just want something soft in the background I put on their 'Bottom of the Sea' album. It seems to me that the big stylistic shift occurs when MorganEve became more heavily involved in the writing & arrangements. I absolutely love her harmonies! Sadly, Brown Bird was over before I became a fan, so I never got a chance to go to a show. There's a little bit of stuff on YouTube to enjoy though. One day I hope to see MorganEve's 'Huntress & Holder of Hands' live - if you enjoy Brown Bird & haven't listened to Huntress, then you're in for a treat.

I've ever known it... I could feel it - he too I think, that's why their music works so deep - deep - deep inside. - Good that they found each other... It was important that she was there by his side. I don't know about her - but it is to see by the way she sings & plays instruments - that she's a wonderful stranger... deep, deep, deep beauty. That's so damn sad - but I'm thankfull that he was here on earth... to do exactly what he did -

I can't believe I didn't hear about Dave's passing until now. Such a shame. Thankfully his music will still be here. Rest in peace.

Loving Fits Of Reason with the new electric guitar driven sound and the addition of cello to the whole picture. There's a bit less of that outlaw-country violin in it but it's great nevertheless, especially the lyrics which keep on kicking me out of my seat, as they did on previous BB albums. Keep up the good work and tour Europe ffs :)

If Sassparilla and The Devil Makes Three had a baby, that baby would be called Brown Bird.
