Waking up the neighbors with your watered down Springsteen vocal delivery on top with sappy '90s pop production? That may work.

Great record. Almost as good as "Reckless". Sadly also the end of the "Kid" that wanted to rock.

It's funny how a great album still can manage to be the beginning of the end. Adams' mid- to late-'80s albums - "Cuts Like a Knife" and "Reckless," especially, but including "Into the Fire" - are the cornerstone of his work and reputation. "Waking Up the Neighbours" is nearly on par with those first two titles, and probably superior to "...Fire," and yet it is the transitional album, containing the seeds of his subsequent slide into sappiness and over-reliance on sappy ballads.
