Damn, forgot Burke Shelley died. R.I.P. to an amazing bassist and titleist/lyricist. One of metal's most influential bands, with Metallica, Megadeth, and Soundgarden all having some great covers of their songs. Even Judas Priest covered Running From My Soul with the band themselves when opening for them in 1974.

RIP Burke Shelley. So many memories linked to your music back in school. I was so amazed by the sound of the early albums and never understood the puns in the titles, yet loved them alongside the sound, quite fuzzy for the time. Budgie's legacy is amazing, although not recognized enough.

Если бы Garage Days не было, Budgie всё равно бы не пропали, в эпоху интернета даже самые редкие бриллианты выходят на поверхность, а Budgie именно к этой категории и относятся.

A matter of taste? More of their releases can be found on vinyl, though, that`s a fact.

No. They had lots of heavy stuff later as well. They had both hard rock / metal songs and soft soulful ballads, and also added some funk rock stuff in the second half of 70s. However they seriously lightened during the 80s as far as I remember, following the path of AOR bands or something like that.

I personally think they're mostly only similar due to the vocals, they lean towards prog but they're yeah, quite different to Rush.

The comparisons are superficial, and lazy. Singer has high voice, plays bass, wears glasses? Budgie songs a little more complex than other heavy trios? That is it!
