CPG stands for Coitus Punk Group.
CPg was on the most important bands of the early eighties Hungarian punk scene and it was formed by Zoltán Benkő in 1979. The group was formed in Szeged and four years later in 1983 three of the members were imprisoned as their lyrics were qualified anti-communist and anti-Soviet by the government. Also, trying to lump CPg under the 'fascist' title, the rumor was spread in the Party and between journalists that CPg actually meant Cigánypusztító Gépezet (Gipsy-Destroying Machine).
The band's shocking and revolutionary criticism on the communist regime paved the way for the mid eighties underground punk bands in Hungary, like ETA. After their imprisonment CPg has went on a long term hiatus and reunited in the end of the '90s. They recorded their almost 20 years old songs along with some new tracks and finally, in 2003 they have managed to release their first full length studio album entitled "Embör Vigyázz!" (in raw translation "Watch out Folks!").
It is rumoured that the band is currenty working on new songs and their next release is out to be released in 2007. CPg is also famous of their intense live performances, and from time to time they play at different festivals and occasions in Hungary.
