I'm not so much into the new sound but I respect their vision. No matter what Violence Violence will always be one of my fave HC/PV records ever. Walking Home makes me feel a certain way that I cannot express other than pure rage haha

New Ceremony is absolutely grand, fuck anyone who says otherwise tbh. So much unnecessary hate.

It's dope. If you were expecting another Rohnert Park or Still Nothing Moves You, that's your fault. They're not going back. I do wish they would have some more heavier songs like Root of the World. Ross's yelling is the best out there. I'm intrigued where they go from here. I hope they continue to switch shit up, make records that don't sound at all similar. Explore other genres. Anthony Rips on guitar. Ross's lyrics are top notch.

I don't know... people were making the exact same complaints after Zoo and L-Shaped (both of which I love) came out, yet everyone is surprised they sounds like New Order more than ever? They named themselves after a NO song, you should've seen this coming by now.

don't necessarily hate their new stuff, but it is definitely not the ceremony i used to love. and i think that's where the majority of the hate comes from. i, personally, am annoyed when bands completely change their sound. i don't understand why they don't just change their band name. but i guess it's their band, and any change they make is ultimately theirs...

and 'Years of Love' is like Devo and New Order had sex and now they've got a punky child

They went from powerviolence to punk, then post-punk. What's next now? 80s pop music?

And here we are with a ultra dreamy post-punk kinda song. Gotta love ceremony.

Everyone here is saying the L-Shaped Man sounds like Joy Division or Interpol, but honestly it's more like they listened to a lot of "Script of the Bridge" by The Chameleons. Highly recommend it for fans of new Ceremony.

Indeed, it's totally The Chameleons-like. But people who never listened to post-punk loves to throw Joy Division to whatever melancholic sound they hear.

Can anyone rec me albums similar to rohnert park? It has this frustrated with all facets of life appeal which I can't really find anywhere else

it would be cool if last.fm could actually separate artists with the same name so I could listen to both individually but it's pretty evident that if it would be a useful change last.fm wouldn't use it. More fool me for using it I guess.

That shoegaze band should seriously change their name, no disrespect to them but it's very clear who deserves to be know as THE Ceremony
