fuck me dude I can't get over how perfect this album is. Every time I put this record on it feels like I'm listening to it for the first time again, and every time I have to remind myself that I am just listening to music and not being told a vivid emotional tale. This record alone teaches me so much about love, so much about heartbreak and loss, so much about anger and revenge. Mingus and his band play feelings like they're chords. Absolutely sublime.

Incontestavelmente, uma síntese da música no século 20 e uma obra-prima atemporal.

Widely considered one of the greatest jazz albums of all time, The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady was more than just a piece of music to its creator; for Mingus, who described it as “my living epitaph from birth til the day I first heard Bird and Diz,” it chronicled a soul-searching autobiographical journey that ultimately brought him some kind of meaningful catharsis. Emerging from the debris and humiliation of the disastrous Town Hall concert, The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady was a musical miracle that not only proclaimed Charles Mingus’ genius but also confirmed his place in the pantheon of great American jazz composers.

One of the best albums I've ever heard in my life easily, and probably the best album in Jazz history. In addition to being absurdly technical, it manages to have a hostile and aggressive sound even within a genre that theoretically should be, in short, serene. Mingus is a genius.

I'm afraid not, but that is subjective. This is my personal favorite Jazz album, just for how tight the composition is. The trumpets, the bass, mmm.

Holy tension and release, especially on that last track. Great dissonance on this album too. I like that the music feels like it has meaning, telling a story or something
