Biography
The world is a dance-floor for Chris Sorbello – whether she’s clubbing in Kings Cross or dancing on her mate’s dinner tables, anywhere there’s music is fair game. The Brisbane-turned-Sydney girl burst onto the scene earlier this year with her ARIA Australian Singles Chart Top 5 ‘So Lonely’, knocking socks off in clubs and at radio with electro-pop sass and pouty performance perfection. A slew of impressive touring followed, including Supafest 2010, alongside the likes of Akon, Kelly Rowland, Jay Sean, Eve, Sean Paul and Pitbull. Being a newcomer was no deterrent for Chris – she consistently wowed crowds with her dynamite live show, complete with outfits that’d make any pop-diva drool.
"I like to test the boundaries with fashion,” Chris says – and her jaw-dropping outfits in the clip for new single ‘Dangerzone’ are testament. “It's mostly to entertain myself as well."
‘Dangerzone’ is a pop classic-in-the-making - all sexy vocals and synth-pop perfection. The video sees Chris become a modern-day comic book heroine, leaping straight from cartoon pages, only to break it down with a throng of dancers in the lush interiors of Sydney’s iconic Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
Chris just returned from L.A., writing up a storm with hit-makers Shelley Peiken (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, The Veronicas, Natasha Bedingfield) and Angelo Lomelo aka Boy Boy (Britney Spears, Ke$ha). Not bad for a girl who, until recently, was a genre-hopping, operatic ingénue. “Before I was comfortable with my sound, I tried my hand at loads of other styles,” she said. “I just thought: ‘why don’t I just do the stuff that I really love?’”
Chris boasts an eclectic music taste ranging from Goldfrapp to Metallica – so we bet the electro-pop gods were stoked by her chosen career direction!
Mind you, with Chris’s smarts, amazingly eclectic tastes and unique style, a prosperous career full of pleasant surprises could be just around the corner.
