Uncanny Valley is the fourth studio album by indie pop band COIN, and was released on March 25, 2022.
Lead singer, Chase Lawrence, first teased the album on October 14, 2021. On January 25, 2022, he followed up with:
"this album is meant to be listened to top to bottom so if you don’t like a single … see you on release day because this album is life giving in sequence"
An Instagram account titled “The Committee for Sound & Mind” was created in the promotion of the album. On February 10, 2022, COIN uploaded a video teasing the album’s influence on the digital world, which led to the website goodmorninguser.com. Once the site loads, it shows sixteen icons. Fourteen of the icons represent a track on the album and when clicked, play a sound from the said song. The bottom right two are related to the album’s title.
The band revealed the album’s title along with a message saying “WELCOME TO THE BEAUTIFUL PLACE” five days after the video upload. Three days later, they revealed the tracklist.
Uncanny Valley was preceded by the release of singles “Chapstick,” on October 8, 2021, “Cutie,” on January 28, 2022, “I Think I Met You In A Dream” on February 18, and “Brad Pitt” on March 11.
