There are multiple artists performing under the name Conscious Pilot: 1) a Glasgow based punk band formed in 2023; 2) an American rock-fusion group; 3) an American dubstep producer &DJ
1) Conscious Pilot Founded by Joe Laycock and Jack Sharp as a successor to theatrical punk group Cheap Teeth, the pair birthed the project from their joint love of immersive, beat-driven soundscapes and an exploration of subtle shifts. Featuring members of Catholic Action and Pressure Retreat, the band aims to urge the listener’s ear into progressively choppy waters whilst simultaneously grounding them in firm lyrical soil.
The band's first ever release "Halfway to Hockney" was recorded by Matt Peel at the Nave in Leeds, the track is centred forgivingly around an individual’s thirst for meaning, as the protagonist falls perilously from the tree of self-identity, grasping at every characteristic branch on the way down, desperate to not be swept away by their impending crisis.
2) Conscious Pilot is an Instrumental Rock Fusion group that blends elements of rock, prog, jazz fusion, funk, neo-soul and many genres in-between. The four-piece has forged a trademark style that is distinctly unique. Virtuosic musicianship, dynamic soundscapes and catchy grooves are delivered with an infectious energy that demands attention.
3) Currently residing in Pennsylvania, Conscious Pilot is a Stateside Dubstep producer & DJ who is known worldwide for pushing some of the heaviest bass the scene has to offer. Early on as a Drum & Bass DJ he witnessed Dubstep's inception as it evolved from a dark vibe in London's UK Garage scene to it's very own genre of electronic dance music. Dubstep was born, and in 2005 he started pushing this minimal sub-bass driven madness to the underground. Currently with a radio show on the award winning Sub.FM, chart topping vinyl & digital releases, and renowned performances at major events Conscious Pilot provides his own freshly defined style of musical sustenance for this rapidly growing scene.
