Unholy fucking shit, where do I even start?! I've heard my fair share of music in my 40-odd years on this planet, but this? This is hands down one of the most draining, obnoxious, over-caffeinated, and downright grim albums I've ever endured. 45 minutes that drag on for what feels like a bloody lifetime. Honestly, even depressive suicidal black metal sounds like a cheery singalong compared to "Jane Doe". I'd love to know what sort of headspace you have to be in to actually enjoy this sonic punishment.

If I didn’t have literal tinnitus I’d probably listen to this a whole lot more

Desert island album for sure. I’ve loved this album for ~20 years? Very few albums I first heard as a teenager that I still love today

100% agree with people saying this is one of the best metal albums ever made. Nothing else will be this crushing and dynamic in such a satisfying way

If you take a moment to listen -- not just have it on as background music but close your eyes and really focus on the music -- you'll release how amazing this is

This album has saved me so many times, and it’s the only piece of music I can say that about.

if I had to pick 1 album for my desert island, this would probably be the one.

although I probably wouldn't choose this bc this is one of those albums that I worry about overplaying and try to save for when I really need it so the magic doesn't wear off

just looked @ my Converge plays, and I've been listening to this album for 18 years. Jfc! The magic of Jane for me is all about how it's stuck with me for so long - im a very fickle music listener and i've discarded a lot of teenage favorites over the years

i literally hated this album for years because i didn't understand it (as with most hardcore music at the time), but coming back to it in the right headspace and more experience with louder music this really hits the spot and is definitely one of my favorites in the metal/mathcore genre(s).

I first tried this back in 2021 and honestly I didn't really get it but since then I've gotten a lot more into both metal and punk/hardcore music so I'm revisiting this and being like... "oh. I get it now. This is a masterpiece" It's a great feeling when you finally "get" music like this

It’s a terrible introduction to metalcore because the rest of the genre will seem bad in comparison
