"Thinking of Woody Guthrie", released in 1969 by Vanguard Records, is the debut solo album of American musician Country Joe McDonald (best known for his work with his band Country Joe & The Fish). While prior to this solo release, McDonald was known for the psychedelic style with his band, this album is a tribute to the work of Woody Guthrie, the American folk musician who had died two years earlier. All of the tracks on the album were either composed or performed by Guthrie. McDonald says he was heavily influenced by Guthrie since a child, including recall that his interest in Guthrie came first when his parents played Guthrie's first album, "Dust Bowl Ballads". Even though McDonald has issued quite a number albums in his career, he is said to looks to this album as the piece of which he is most proud.
