With that said, I'm the kind of music nerd who enjoys listening to three or four different versions of songs sequentially, just to hear how the song develops and changes (probably why I like the new re-issue of Depravity's demos and EPs so much). Most people should probably just stick to this new remaster, especially seeing as you'd have to drop like forty bucks on eBay to get a copy of the original CD. So, so glad I got into Crypticus a few years ago and managed to get the first album for like twenty bucks.

Yeah, just got that digital version myself. I actually own the original CD, and I can honestly say that this one is way, way better. Very punchy, direct mix that suits the more barbaric nature of the material (as compared to the more subtle and atmospheric second album) quite well. I've got both versions on my iPod since I still like the old version a lot, because of the atmospheric murky sound it has, the horror samples, and the way all the tracks flow into each other (as opposed to the deliberate song separation going on with the remaster). Both versions are pretty great, and it kind of just depends on what kind of mood I'm in when it comes to picking one, but the new version is probably where most newcomers should start when it comes to Crypticus' debut.

Just bought the digital edition of Dedicated to the Impure. Hope it is as good as the EP.

I love the convoluted song structures. I can't believe no one else thought of what Crypticus is doing before: take Swedish style death metal, but put everything into complex, unpredictable songs instead of rock-based verse/chorus stuff.
