Into the Nightlife is a song written by Cyndi Lauper, Peer Åström, Johan Bobäck and Max Martin, and produced by Lauper, Åström and Bobäck, for Lauper's tenth studio album Bring Ya to the Brink and it was released as the album's second worldwide single.
Ari Gold, Colton Ford and Lucas Silveira from The Cliks all appear in the song's music video which was partly filmed at Splash Bar in New York City.
Lauper explained to Entertainment Weekly that this song came from “from the title of the Henry Miller & Bezalel Schatz book ["Into The Night Life", which inspired Lawrence Ferlinghetti's (1958 collection of poems) "A Conney Island of the Mind", which inspired me to describe the images of nightlife here in NYC.
The book "Into The Night Life" was written in 1947 and contains fine abstract art by Bezalel Schatz, with Henry Miller's handwriting and Schatz' illustrations. Quite a rare book indeed. The abstract art by Bezalel Schatz is some of his finest work.
