D'ERLANGER is a Japanese band that is widely considered to be a part of and important to the formation of visual kei, a Japanese music subculture which bands like LUNA SEA & 黒夢 (Kuroyume) belong to. The band formed in 1983 and had disbanded seven years later (apparently due to management issues) in 1990. Their guitarist, CIPHER, was only 15 years old at the time of their formation. Their current vocalist Kyo and their current drummer TETSU were the famous X JAPAN guitarist hide's bandmates in yokosuka SAVER TIGER.

After D’ERLANGER’s disbandment, Kyo formed Die In Cries, had a solo career (see Kyo), and then formed BUG. After TETSU’s departure from ZI:KILL, which he had joined right after the disbandment of D’ERLANGER, TETSU formed BODY alongside his ex. D’ERLANGER bandmate CIPHER, and then the two of them later joined up with ex. ZI:KILL, Seiichi to form a new group, CRAZE. SEELA, D’ERLANGER’s bassist, formed Fix with ex. MAZERAN, Shoji, before later participating in Atomic ZaZa with fellow ex. Fix member and vocalist Tezya, before finally joining No Stars Innovation and departing from that band some years later in early 2006.

In December 2006 D’ERLANGER announced their reformation, and since 2007, they’ve been active again with many new albums: "LAZZARO" (2007) being the first of many that they have put out since their revival. They have been active since then and are releasing music to this day.
