Biography
DJ 6666 is Alec Empire, following his explorations in harsh Death Funk into further apocalyptic noise. When the double LP "Death Breathing" came out on DHR in '98 nobody could guess DJ 6666 was Alec, it was only when Intelligence and Sacrifice came out with the quadruple six logo that people got it. It was just another fine DHR artist; especially aggressive, distorted and violent like "She Rape" or "Acid's Not Enough", with toasting from the featured Illegal/s.
DJ 6666 came out shortly after Squeeze The Trigger, pushing Alec's trademark slaughter of acid by heavily distorted breaks to new limits. This style would reach its logical extreme later that year in his live collaboration with Merzbow at the DHR festival in New York. Also in 1998 Alec's side-project with Techno Animal "The Curse of the Golden Vampire" was released; in August he recorded Nintendo Teenage Robots and his next solo album in the limited series, Miss Black America, a more abstract noise-hop direction that also harked back to his Mille Plateux records in parts. These and the new ultra-violent digital hardcore 2.0 ATR tracks of 60 Second Wipe Out would be released during 1999. Alec's final release in his classic breakcore style would be the 1999 proto-mash-up bootleg “Alec Empire vs Elvis Presley”, an allegorical tribute to the rise and death of the breakbeat as told through the medium of Elvis.
