Biography
San Francisco is known the world over for its funky disco scene, and no DJ is more synonymous with SF funky house than Jonny Phelps aka DJ Jonene aka Jonny Kaboom. As an artist, promoter, and producer,
Jonny has played a key role in the development of one of the deepest, most soulful house music scenes in the world. He is responsible for the formation of seminal house-music label, Panhandle
Records and was a long-time mainstay and resident at the party that defines house music in SF, STOMPY. In 2001 Jonny helped take the party digital by co-founding STOMPY.com – an online music download site designed by and created for DJs. As well as being sponsored by ESDJCO (esdjco.com) for nearly 15 years, Jonny has held monthly residencies in major cities around the
country that include San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, New York, Dallas, and Miami. He has shared the spotlight by headlining with legendary greats such as Little Louie Vega (MAW), Derrick
Carter, Mark Farina, Mark Grant, DJ Sneak, Doc Martin, Marques Wyatt, and Luke Solomon just to name a few. In a career that has spanned over two decades, Jonny has DJed more than 2000 parties
in some 40 countries around the globe.
