Quik literally oozes every aspect of coolness, and I rarely use the word "cool", and that is for sure.

Had my Quik > DRE phase, but at the end of the day for sheer impact on the form and the *level* of albums - Quik has not produced an album better than The Chronic or Doggystyle, and artists Dre backs changed the game as well (Snoop, Em, 50, Kendrick, the list goes on) whereas Quik's crew never went beyond niche (and I love Suga Free). Fairness to dude though, he's put out great to solid album after album, Dre has certainly been more conservative.

That's fair enough. I still give Quik the edge in the talent stakes however...

I agree with you, however as of today I'd rather listen to any Quik album rather than a Dre album (except maybe Midnight Life ^^)

Dr. Dre didn't produce those records by himself. Daz, DJ Quik, Warren G, Above the Law and many others contributed heavily to those albums but Dre hogged all the credit. He's still dope but massively overrated and a bit of a hack.

It's okay but...meh. Abundantly obvious to those who know his catalogue that he's put out considerably better records.

He sounds like he's done producing stuff for other cats alright but he didn't specify as to whether or not he'd stop putting out his own material. Can't blame Quik for being bitter, he's done so much of the dirty work for great projects (extrinsic from his own) and never got his dues...

Yeah SimonePerrota I see what you mean, I personally like his oldest stuff even though it's objectively weaker (but still, Tonite is his best song by far to me). I do like The Book of David cause there are 'traditional' songs, 'funky' or even 'experimental'. By the way you guys find Book of David experimental? to me, BlaQKout sounds way more experimental.. and you're forgetting his "Can You Work With That" with AMG which obviously his is weakest album.

The Book Of David is the album Quik always wanted to make. I don't get the lack of love...

You could maybe argue that Quik Is The Name is better than The Book Of David but it's definitely not fucking with his mid-late '90s output...

Quik is the Name can't be so low just thanks to "Tonite" in my opinion. For the rest, I don't know... the only thing I'm sure of is that Trauma is his weakest album, even though it's not a bad one...
