"In 2010 the band had a radical change in the line-up, with Mike staying as the only original member from Dark Lunacy." Now it makes sense why 2010's 'Weaver of forgotten' is such a terrible album compared to previous ones. And I was wondering what happened to their beautiful compositions. Good thing 2014's and 2016's albums are way, way better :)

Вы неправы. Первые три альбома это одни из самых лучших альбомов в истории метал музыки.

I am also getting a lot of kicks from The Rain After The Snow. And I agree, they are finally back to the grandeur melancholy of their first three records. Seems the riffing is fresher than before. The guitar sound is crunchy and not as buried by the deeper frequncies. They are still missing the fast-paced blastbeating accompanied with ethereal female vocals and/or guitar melodies. That is one element that really shines in the first two records. I got kicks out of The Day of Victory too but it quietly creeped out of my listening cycle really soon. Though it definitely has good tracks like From the Don to the Sea. I feel optimistic that The Rain After The Snow will stay with me longer.

"They are still missing the fast-paced blastbeating accompanied with ethereal female vocals and/or guitar melodies." - totally agree. When I heard "Gold, Rubies and Diamonds" before the album was released, I hoped there would be more songs like that. Sadly it's the only one with any kind of blastbeats :( that insane drumming and aggressiveness connected with such melancholic mood are things that made me fall in love with this band. Fortunately, the last album shows that even with slow tempo they can make amazing music. I will still miss the "old" Lunacy, though.

The Rain After The snow - definitely better than two last albums and on par with the first three. Gets better with every listen. More gothic/doom metal sound perfectly suits the melancholy and sadness of Dark Lunacy's music. Worth a try.

First thoughts of The Day of Victory after one listen. Dark Lunacy are embracing the Red Soviet theme more than ever before. And it sounds like a very natural component of their music. Amazing cover art. The majestic choir arrangements are an essential part of the Russian/Soviet feel. I agree that they really need to bring the violin back.

It's pretty good on first listen. The Mystic Rail, however, really kicks serious fucking ass.
