We used to live in a world where there was no Dark -2.-2. Now we live in a world where it is. Heard it live in September and kept expecting the studio version since. Initially it felt like it never ends. Experimental, stretched to oblivion, too slow to include blast beats, but still using the same musical language as the previous albums. It does not feel like hurtling in the black void. More like experiencing some sort of advanced civilization that reached quantum consciousness. Way more tame and reverberated. People seem to have an issue with that. I dig it. Glad they're still around and looking forward to "III II". | Bonus meme: https://i.imgur.com/0s2Uvrt.png

Well, it's been a whole decade since the previous release. So, ten more years for the possible III II ? Or - II (-2.-2.). will be the last? Feels like some kind of symmetry to the very first one -I (-1.-1. / -1.0.).

We live in a world where some space pirate placed additional space in track name 'Dark - 2.-2' so it now has no cover art, 640 listeners and 1011 scrobbles.

The space is in the official upload to streaming services. Check the album listed above. Also, curb your OCD :)

I bought it yesterday on bandcamp. And THERE IS NO SPACE after hyphen 'Dark - 2.-2' so the wrong name has 747 listeners against 149 with correct name :)

Yeah, the typo is just in the Spotify upload. Maybe some other streaming services. The proper names are "Dark Space -II" and "Dark -2.-2".

Can't believe we waited 10 years for 47 minutes of intro/interlude/outro material...

Dark Space - II: two tedious repetitive pieces glued together into one track, 47 minutes of wasted time

This band is what Paysage d'Hiver would sound like if they could afford to pay for production quality.

Man, if the whole record is as bland, generic and uninspired as the first extract is, "Dark Space -II" might be the first sub-par effort in a flawless discography.

I'm not going to judge the whole album based on this one except, but they definitely chose a pretty bad/boring except to act as a preview for the album. I kept anticipating the wall of noise to kick in, but this just seems like a 6 minute intro/outro if anything.

The new album is the essence of Darkspace's work over their previous releases. The atmosphere is overwhelming, created from the best aspects of their entire discography. The guitars from III are staggering, the drums from -I/I provide an excellent alien feel, and the synths from III with new motifs. Very good and atmospheric playing, which overwhelms not with a wall of sound but with a powerful atmosphere. This album beautifully sifts out the grumblers and weaklings.

I like them on their records but the live show @ PF was absolute shit. Worst show of all the shows ever on all PF editions and I've actually seem them all. The soundguy should be eternally ashamed.

Confirmed to be one long track and indeed, it repeats segments endlessly. I cannot get this rhythm out of my head by now.

All that bullshit below aside, I'm glad SoM made their albums readily available again. Really digging the new artwork for all 5 releases.

Hardly underrated. Darkspace is pretty popular in the UG and makes consensus among almost everybody.

First of all "underrated" and "overlooked" are different concepts. You're trying to argue the fact that he said that the band is underrated by pointing out the fact that it's not overlooked. In fact "underrated" has to do more with appraisal, while "overlooked" it's about popularity. Second, a band could both be popular AND highly appraised, and still having a much greater "value" so they can still be considered underrated or overlooked. (I'm not talking about darkspace specifically, but I'm simply pointing out your logical errors. Even if I "feel" that darkspace is a band that doesn't get high appraisal in the metal community too, but it's not the point).

In both cases, dude above is wrong. Darkspace isn't underrated (considering the high score reviews of pretty much everything they have put out) nor is it overlooked, being signed on SoM and judging by their Last.fm stats (which must represent only a small percentage of the actual listeners). Lol'd at your second point which makes absolutely no sense. Putting it short : another A-class wankery on a shoutbox.

I would not consider Darkspace underrated either. Already 10 years ago, their first 3 works were considered important pillars in the black metal cosmos. But I understand the disappointment when you discover a band for yourself, are totally enthusiastic about it, but at some point you realize that others have heard them long before you and you just haven't noticed them for a long time.

Their new album is being recorded, on their website Darkcyberspace they have "incoming transmissions" which has the co-ordinates " 43.346777, 5.450783 " and on google maps it comes up as a place in Marseille, France... maybe this is where they're recording or something. Yes i'm obsessed with this band.

I think it's where Season Of Mist headquarters are located, since it's their new label. Really looking forward this release and the reissues.

Revisiting their discography and can't tell how much I'm glad I caught them live in Switzerland before these times of Covid utter retardation. What an unique band.
