Biography
From the Israeli desert town of Be'er Sheva comes this bluesman with his black suit and shiny silver guitar. Don't be fooled, this is no "Man In Black", but a subtle songwriter with a passion for blues and folk, as well as slowcore rock and about everything else.
After releasing on critically acclaimed slowcore album with his band Blueband (throned as "the best rock album in the world" by a Jerusalem magazine), Peretz turned to the old Delta Blues of the last century.
After a chance encounter with the Japanese Haiku poetry form, Peretz soon understood this could work together: the Blues 3-chord structure with the Haiku's 3-line structure, Blues's flirt with the devil and god (Peretz's father is a Rabbi, and the singer himself is a formerly religious) and Haiku's focus on the present moment…
All of the above culminated in his debut album from 2007, simply and aptly titled "Haiku Blues". Released to critical and commercial acclaim in Israel, "Haiku Blues" quickly gathered new and old fans of blues and folk, connectd by a love for masterfully-written songs. And a new music genre of its own came about.
Peretz also holds a vast knowledge in music history and runs a recording studio. He teaches both sound engineering and music history in formal and informal institutes.
