This album is still so good. It's so atmospheric and it sounds exactly how the cover looks. Now that I have listened to most of there work to death, it's been refreshing going back to the albums I haven't played as much

Having a Deftones binge again and this album in particular has caught my attention. It didn't to start with but has really caught me now. I very much enjoy that their creative output has continued to improve, way after their commercial peak.

Bad opinion warning but I kinda like Ohms more than White Pony. My plays definitely don't reflect that though

Also love the beautifully bleak tone of the album. While KNY and Diamond Eyes feel like late summer, Ohms feels like cold october/november evenings

This still might be my favorite Deftones album, I was a fan some years before this came out, and even 1 year later I still love it very much.

Okay, i'd say I prefer their self titled for its dark atmosphere, but I still think that this is one is VERY solid

This album's great, I think with time people will realize this is easily as good as say Diamond Eyes.

This album is perfectly fitting for late autumn and winter, like Koi No Yokan. But where Ohms is much better than KNY is the songwriting. The songs are more clever structured, only 2 of 10 songs follow the standard 3 chorus routine. Deftones always relied (too much sometimes) on choruses so that's what surprised me about Ohms. But the biggest strong point is the atmosphere.

My rating is 6 out of 10. This album is overproduce and relies way too much on production to make sound newish & different. It's Gore, but overproduced. This album and Gore both seem like they're trying to mimic shoegaze bands of the latter half of the 80s to the early 90s. They should try a different musical direction because they're failing with their attempts of mimicking shoegaze.

"I don't like this universally acclaimed album so the band has to change their sound"

I find it very unfortunate, thatpower1, that you're unable to convey why you like the album to someone else that doesn't like the album. Instead, you display your flaws in reasoning with the argumentum ad populum. In other words, you like it because someone else liked it too. Sad.

I actually got into Ohms (and Deftones in general) after the Fantano 3/10, this is exactly the opposite of "liking an album because someone else does". Very well-produced (definitely not overproduced), great guitar tone, memorable riffs, amazing vocals, some really catchy melodies, what's not to like here?

Yeah, as I said, once can argue that there is a slight influence of Shoegaze. But don't you think that calling their latest release "mimicking Shoegaze" is a bit of a stretch? I think that this album in particular has a very clean production and barely anything that could be called Shoegaze. If they said that "Gore" is mimicking Shoegaze, then yeah, maybe. Would still be a stretch in my book, but I could at least somewhat understand it. But in the end, I don't care that much anyway. I was just hella confused when I read their comment, which is why I jokingly replied to it. I didn't wanna start a big discussion on this. If you guys think that this is Shoegaze, then it's okay with me. I just don't see it.

I'm listening to Minerva right now and now that you mentioned it, I can definitely hear the Shoegaze influences on this track. But then I find the complaint that Ohms is "mimicking" Shoegaze even more weird because, personally, I feel a track like Minerva sounds way more Shoegaze than this whole album.

the nazi russian thing have been a problem from the start, its just that after last fm decided to tell its user base to fuck off with all the redesigns the only people who stayed are guys that get their music taste off 4chan so they became more obvious

It's better than Gore..but on first listen does not touch anything prior to that. Fairly uninteresting. Not getting the praise, sounds like a less competent version of Saturday Night Wrist

It might be better than White Pony but it's not better than Around The Fur or Koi No Yokan ^_^

I love this album, but it's not better than White Pony. ATF and KNY are better than Ohms as well.
