Amazing song - such power in the drums, bass, guitar and keyboard with that industrial stomping rhythm. the Underworld remix is fantastic too! https://www.last.fm/music/Depeche+Mode/_/Barrel+Of+A+Gun+(Underworld+Hard+Mix)

now This was the song when I finally got Depeche Mode back in 1997. I knew who they were before hand, but just kinda lumped them in with bands like Tears for Fears and didnt pay them much attention as i was an alternative 14 year old, but this got a lot of radio play when it came out and I was hooked forever.

Yes 20 Years and still sounds incredible, probably the most impeccably produced DM album ever

Some of the DM's songs are hard to listen in the beginning, but after some times i get addicted to them,it's quite strange. [2] This has been happening to me a lot lately. & I don't know what it is about this song, but it kind of reminds me of Nine Inch Nails. =] Love it though ~

I loved this when it was released, and have ever since, but it sounds a tad dated now in a way that, say, Enjoy the Silence does not.
