Biography
Derrick Tyson (b. 1982) is a multi-faceted artist. Here, musically, his audio-compositions are riffed with various elements and ranges. His interests in field recording, audio-collage, cut-up, experimental soundscapes and avant-garde composers really began in the early 2000's when his love for John Cage swept across his mental-radar. His love for sounds have always been in existence, and his first 'collection' titled, "Disassembling The Silence" (Part 1 and 2) was "released" in 2008, and certain tracks received air-play at an avant-garde/experimental radio station in Australia in-and-around the same time.
His influences are wide-expanding, but some notables are John Cage, Iannis Xenakis, Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Ligeti, The Pioneers of Electronic Music, Alvin Lucier, Luc Ferrari, Negativland, Minimalistic soundscapes, Original Tape Music composers, Louis & Bebe Barron, Yoko Ono, Space Pop artists, to name a small few.
