He got a Juno award for this, huh... I enjoy Sky Blue a lot; Dark Matters is a lot of fun, but I still prefer the quirkiness of the original Ziltoid more.

How is this not DTP's most popular album? It's more of a fun listen than Epicloud and Addicted combined.

I didn't think too much of this one upon its release. I thought Devin's music was kind of running on fumes at that point (which is still way better compared to others doing the same), but I've got to say that Sky Blue has grown on me over the years. It's much better than Epicloud for sure. Dark Matters still doesn't do much for me though. To me it would be much better (and logical) to have them released separately. Well, more officially anyway. I don't get why this was packaged as Z² when they're two completely different albums.

I like the remains from Deconstruction in some sections.. particular in Wandering Eye and Through The Wormhole.. it makes me really want an album like that again. Sadly Z^2 don't provide with that much originality in disc two other than the March. Some of the songs in disc one are great though...

an ambiguous concept for tagging, and some overly loud production attempt to hurt this project yet some very strong tracks are hidden around. Quite enjoyable once it grows on you.

Musically it's not as good as the original ZTO, but I can't say it is not immensely enjoyable album.

do you feel the groove?.. ...infinite void of infinite parallels, into your mind!

i really love "ziltoid goes home" - feels like a tribute to all the old stuff (e.g. syl or the physicist album), which suddenly reminds you with the chorus, that there's actually new stuff that is also excellent.

Captain Spectacular should've worn his special saving-the-world boots. All would've been fine.

I enjoy a shitton from this double album. the "Raw" version of Dark Matters is obviously better for enjoying musicaly, but I had a great fun time when listening to the normal version of Dark Matters, March of the Poozers had me cracking up with the narrator breaking the 4th wall. Sky Blue is catchy, just like Addicted and Epicloud. You just can't get enough of Anneke.

I have a bad habit of rubbishing albums before I like them but...I'm disappointed in Z2. I think Devin got carried away with the story & neglected the music. There's only 2 tracks on Sky Blue that I like. Worst of all that awesome song on the 'Devin's Ideas' YT vid is nowhere to be seen/heard.

I liked the first half of Dark Matters a lot. Up until Deathray it has a lot of great moments, then it kind of fizzles out until Dimension Z

Not huge on Sky Blue as of yet but Dark Matters is fantastic. Takes the best parts of the original ZTO without all the excess baggage to my ears, and its genuinely funny in some parts while the original could just get irritating. The narrator's "Why am I talking to myself?" in March of the Poozers (I think it was) had me in stitches

Sky Blue is very solid, although Devin stayed on known waters on this one, nothing really new. Still, there's some catchy tunes, and that good old pop metal vibe. Dark Matters is quite uneven, too much dialogue and narrative, and not always entertaining. But there's some f***ing epic moments. Ziltoid Goes Home really stood out for me.

Dark Matters is probably the best album I've heard in my whole life. Not being a fanboy, it's just damn good.

Bits and moments that lure me into liking it but then more often than not stray away into bland and repetitive territory. Too bad, especially Ziltoid is a massive disappointment.

So... Music-wise both Sky Blue and Dark Matters have great moments. Problem is that Sky Blue sounds too much like Epicloud and Dark Matters has too much nonsense. The Raw version of Dark Matters (Disc 3) is actually pretty fucking good! Don't think I'll come back to the "official version" too soon after listening it for the first time now - the narrative is pretty irritating, too thin and only partly entertaining. Overall the entirety is pretty uneven.

Let's make sure we tag these as Z²: Sky Blue and Z²: Dark Matters (with or without the 'Z²') instead of file them all under Z². The individual artwork is too amazing to do that :)
