The Melktert Kommissie is a four-member Afrikaans music group from Jeffreys Bay . The group originated in 2002 during their participation in the Jip Rockspaaider competition, which they also won that year. Volroom , their debut album, was released in June 2003. A second album, Wonderwoorde was released in 2006. Their third studio album, Forgive and Forget, was issued in August 2007. The group released an English single Karma in 2009. After a long hiatus, the band resumed performing in 2017. In 2019, the band indicated on social media that they were back in the studio recording new music. Their new singles Weier and Irrelevant were released in 2019.
This South African band was formed in 2002 by a random collision of musicians who had come together for "Battle of the Bands"-type competition. The four-piece band consists of Lucinda Strydom (now Lucinda Neethling) (lead vocals and acoustic/electric guitar), Jean-Marie Korff (electric guitar and backing vocals), Jan-Adriaan Korff (drums and backing vocals) and Tim van der Westhuizen (bass guitar).
The band has released 3 full-length albums so far and sing in Afrikaans (one of South Africa's languages). The sound of the band has progressed a fair bit from the style found on the first album (Volroom) and has found their own sound with acoustic rock, blues and intense vocally driven sounds.
Many influences have come from other Afrikaans artists such as Koos Kombuis, Gert Vlok Nel and Karen Zoid to mention a few. Each member however has brought their own sound which when combined brought a sound which can stand on its own.
