Dinosaurs was a half-hour sitcom which aired on ABC. The series, conceived just before Jim Henson's death, focused on a family of dinosaurs, the Sinclairs, and used ground-breaking full body, animatronic puppets.

Big Songs is a 1992 album based on the Dinosaurs series and characters. This album was produced by Ray Colcord, who co-wrote most of the songs.
The album features the show's regular cast performing, including Stuart Pankin (Earl), Jessica Walter (Fran), Jason Willinger (Robbie), Sally Struthers (Charlene), Kevin Clash (Baby Sinclair), Sam McMurray (Roy), Florence Stanley (Grandma Ethyl), Sherman Hemsley (B.P. Richfield), Christopher Meloni (Spike) and Suzie Plakson (Monica DeVertebrae). The Refrigerator Creatures' voices are provided by puppeteers Bill Barretta, Julianne Buescher, Michelan Sisti, Leif Tilden and Mak Wilson.

Dinosaurs was also a "supergroup" formed by the veteran musicians from the San Francisco psychedelic scene in the mid to late 60's, active as a band from 1982 to 1996, touring sporadically but intensely and releasing only one self-titled album in 1988. Members through the years included Quicksilver Messenger Service's guitarist John Cippolina, Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter on vocals and guitar, Country Joe & The Fish's Bary "The Fish" Melton on guitar, Big Brother & The Holding Company's bassist Peter Albin, Jefferson Airplane's and New Riders of the Purple Sage's drummer Spencer Dryden, Jerry Garcia associate Merl Saunders on keyboards, Moby Grape's guitarist Jerry Miller, Jefferson Airplane's, Hot Tuna's and Jefferson Starship's fiddler Papa John Creach, It's a Beautiful Day's electric violinist's David LaFlamme and others. They often opened shows for the Grateful Dead, causing more excitement on the public than most other bands that opened for them.

The Dinosaurs were one of St. Louis' original punk bands, fronted by Bob Reuter, who was also the bass player. The Dinosaurs helped lay the groundwork for today's DIY scene with their kick-ass, unapologetic rock & roll.
