Underrated is a term that gets thrown around a lot, but I can safely say that Dirty on Purpose were/are massively underrated. Looking at Spotify only a handful of their songs even break 10K plays, despite the fact that they pretty much captured the perfect blend of indie pop/rock and shoegaze. Hallelujah Sirens is a killer LP and one of my top 10 albums of all time, and their EPs are brimming with little masterpieces as well ("Audience", "Airshow Disaster", "Girls and Sunshine" come to mind but so many others). In fact, if you combined "Sleep Late for a Better Tomorrow" and "Like Bees" it would probably ALSO be in my top 10. I always feel slightly sad about bands like this. I know not every great band will get the recognition they deserve. But it seems like such a grand injustice. I still remember you, Dirty on Purpose.

All New Friends была и остается одной из моих любимых песен почти уже 10 лет, но я только что зашел сюда, на страницу группы, и узнал что они распались в 2008. ОХ(((

When did they form? Someone should find an official bio for them. They sound old-ish, so I was surprised to see that they have a 2008 album. uhhhh, need more songs!

These guys are awesome but they need a bigger presence. Or do I just need to listen more to get in the habit? Either way I pass over them more often than I wish I did.

I wish the Au Revoir Simone chick would continue to play in both groups. I saw them at South by Southwest the first time they played there... and it was awesome.

So much better (ie LOUDER) live. Opened for Wintersleep in Ottawa and I felt I'd got my money's worth a few songs into these guys' set. Talked to George (aka Kevin Shields Jr.) afterwards and he's a really chill guy despite nearly breaking his guitar in half during their outro haha.

Sweet, I love Au Revoir Simone. Especially through the backyards of our neighbours. What a smooth track.

Erika Forster is the girl who sang on Sleep Late... She was a full-time member of the band, she is now part of the all-girl keyboard-based group Au Revoir Simone.

To those below: DOP's [url=http://haystack.com/biographies/show/26566]Haystack bio[/url] lists [artist]Jaymay[/artist] and Anne Brewster, formerly of [artist]Sea Ray[/artist], as collaborators on [album artist=Dirty on Purpose]Hallelujah Sirens[/album], but I've found no mention of the female vocalist on Sleep Late. Still wondering.

Dirty on Purpose is, perhaps, the best band I've discovered in the last years. Since I was a big fan for the alternative movement during the 90's, I can say DOP is the band that is trully revitalizing and giving new dimensions to this whole concept. The way in which they asume their creations is absolutly organic, full of beautiness. This is art! Just listen to Cheat Death to understand.
