I totally forgot about them after "Back To Times Of Splendor" and recently rediscovered them through "Ayam". Damn, they matured well! However, BTTOS will always hold a special place in my heart... it perfectly reflects inner struggles both lyrically and instrumentally, I always get chills listening to the whole thing.

Fought through many great releases of the last year to land right at the top of the tower of excellence! Ayam is their best record yet, and it only gets better with every listen.

after all that time, i was very excited about the arrival of a new album, because i really liked their previous efforts. after listening to it i have to say that, for me it's a big letdown, because feels very low on intensity and impact. there are a few creative ideas, which are integrated very tame and can't balance the rehashing and basicness of other parts. especially the title track reminds me of day old food you put in the microwave - might do the job for some, but it's not all there and lacks a lot of the flavour. plus they copy themselves so blatantly in that song that it's almost comical. if you like something that's just nice to have running in the background, this might be for you. i'm a sucker for gripping music and build-up of tension though and the little, that is actually there is very predictable. with all the good prog and tech releases that came out this year to choose from instead, i won't give this another spin.

Ehh, after the flawless Alea I hoped for much more with Liberation. It’s a very good album but I miss Gloria’s experimental edge, too much of it feels like a fanservice for BtToS and little else. It feels like a regression in style from Alea which had just the right balance of heavy riffing and off-the-rails experimentality. I DO enjoy the new album but waiting till the last track to hear a trumpet was a major letdown. With all the growling, nature motifs, clean guitars and stuff it just feels so... Standard. In the end, gave it a few listens in a row and didn’t touch it since. But fans have their BtToS 2.0 so oh well.

Some that come immediately to mind are: East of the Wall - NP Complete, Deathspell Omega - Furnaces of Palingenesia, Inter Atma - Sulphur English and Soen - Lotus. I also really liked Fear Inoculum after a few listenings, so it could be a contender, but I can see why some people don't like it as much as I do

Ten years are nine years too many for another Disillusion work. The new song is AMAZING. As usual Dis are offering a multilayered thick wall of music and emotions, that every listen is a new experience. God, I love these guys.

Yesterday i was listening to the new Disillusion Album. It's called "Maxell Ferro II 90 Min" and it's released on tape only. When i opened the shrinkwrap and putted the tape into my player i knew it's gonna be 1,5 hours of awesome listening experience. Unfortunately the album is mixed veeery low so i had to turn up the volume to the max and what i've heard were pretty cool otherworldy sounds. I would call it Tech Metal from the year 3587.
