I've heard a couple of his songs for years now but from different artists (namely Hole's cover of Season of the Witch and Judy Collins' cover of Sunny Goodge Street). But I finally listened to his music and I love it. It's very 60s, very hippie oriented. But that's what makes it so good! I was surprised as to how many hits he had in the States considering how he's not really discussed much these days, as he should be. Very underrated in modern times.

its incredible how many classics are written or performed by the man. If u take the time and dig only through a fraction of his works u will soon realize this, always surprises me how ppl keep missing out on him. He in my opinion is one of the more influential musicians in the garage rock scene of all time, he certainly inspired many generations to come since garage rock never truelly dies out, prolly because it luckely isnt mainstream enough.

donovan may be like the sweetest rendition or personification there might ever be conceived in every aspect of the purest "grown-up" and gleeful puerile spirit to sprout at the root of the bright and blooming flower power garden... he'd be like an amalgam (though entirely original and unique in his own being and expression!) of the brian wilson sort of high-spirited and joyful layout with a syd barrett-y riddleish and childish synaesthesic lyricism and attitude... it's so much kindness and docility you just can't help the urge to take him home and bake him cookies to serve with tea then read him a fairytale (reference purpousely included) for a bedtime story!
