What I like about the Ice Princess EP is its ability to maintain an enlivened vitality, characteristic of punk, within its post-punk architecture. The direction of this record is less appealing, with its muted, uniform, slightly narcotized detachment. Most of the songs lack personality. This only functions to make Florence's sort of spoken word poet delivery sound tedious. They are a good band, however, so even when they misfire, they're still interesting. The Kwenchy Kups-Gary Ashby-Driver's Story triad which comes early on is the highlight (specifically the transition from KK into GA). And no, I will not comment on the album art. If I were to quantify its quality numerically, I'd say it's a 6.8/10.
