EXO-CBX is the first official sub-group of South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO, formed by in 2016. The unit is composed of three EXO members: Chen (), Baekhyun (백현) and Xiumin (시우민).

After the trio released a song for the drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo titled "너를 위해 (For You)", fans began to speculate that they would form EXO's first sub-unit. SM Entertainment confirmed this on October 5, 2016.

Their first album Hey Mama! was released on iTunes and other music service sites on October 31, 2016. The group made their debut performance of the title track "Hey Mama!" on M! Countdown a month later on November 3. Hey Mama! topped the Billboard World Albums chart and South Korean's Gaon album chart. Later in November, EXO-CBX recorded a remake of the original soundtrack "Crush U" for the game Blade & Soul.

On March 10, 2017, it was revealed that EXO-CBX would make their debut in Japan in May. On April 1, the group was announced to be releasing their debut Japanese extended play Girls on May 24, 2017. The extended play's title track was "Ka-CHING!".

The trio released Blooming Days - The 2nd Mini Album on April 10, 2018 which consists of 7 tracks. On May 9, they released their second Japanese album, MAGIC with the title track Horololo.

On April 10, 2019, EXO-CBX released a single, Paper Cuts.

On June 1, 2023, the trio delivered an official statement that they had terminated their exclusive contract with SM Entertainment after filing a lawsuit against SM for alleged slave contract and unfair payment. According to their lawyer’s statement, it all started when EXO CBX members requested transparency of their payment to SM Entertainment. Although it is the domain and basic right of all artists to demand a clear and transparent report of their fees from their company, SM refused to give them the detailed report, stating they couldn’t give them copies of their contracts. The members had been forced to sign a 10-year long-term contract with SM through a special extension; and SM also pushed for additional agreements that resulted in a total of 17—18 years of an exclusive contract, which is a clear violation of South Korean laws.
